What you say about being trans meaning being in almost a constant state of trauma is really true. Especially around people, even loved ones who you can tell don't fully accept you... <3

Thanks, Nym. I can't speak for trans people, of course, but I do hope that it isn't this way, always, for all of them. I do think that as a general rule, though, what Doc Impossible is getting at is right: that in a world hostile to trans people, being trans is itself traumatizing - the same way there's trauma inherent to being Black in America, or any number of other systemic oppressions. It's different from the trauma that people from all backgrounds can be unlucky enough to suffer from their families of origin. But it has a broader scope that makes it harder to escape in many ways.
