It's singing time again
This weekend, I’ll be closing out this incredibly busy 50th anniversary season of the Aeolian Singers with our Looking Forward, Looking Back concert. I’m so excited for it; for one thing, we get to appear at the new Joseph Strug Concert Hall at Dalhousie, which is probably the premier chamber concert space in Halifax right now. We’ve had a marvelous time since September with our concerts at All Nations church, at the concert hall at Acadia, and of course at the marvelous venues we got to sing at in Vancouver in May. But this promises to be a really special outing for us. Plus I have another wee solo!
Writing about singing always brings me back to previous posts I’ve made about it, how vital it is to my well-being, how powerful it can be as a healing art, and how it relates to my training in Rubenfeld Synergy, and Ilana Rubenfeld’s legacy as a symphonic conductor. There’s a degree to which the work I am trained in is a musical kind of art, and I probably don’t talk about that enough, especially since the pandemic made my work entirely virtual. (Ask any musician about trying to do music over Zoom…)
So this week, here are some reposts, and reposts within those reposts, about my many years in choral music.
And hey, if you’re in the area: tickets are still available!
This week's project: Choral concert time!
This week has been kind of a lot, mostly because I got my Covid and flu shots on Tuesday evening, sank almost immediately into lethargy, then lost most of the subsequent day to rubberlegs and floatybrain. I did manage to sort all of my photos, however.
